Dr. Mzulungile Nodikida, CEO of The South African Medical Association (SAMA), is a visionary and innovative leader operating at the critical nexus of healthcare and business. With a deep commitment to advancing universal health access and sustainable system growth, he brings a unique blend of expertise in global health systems, healthcare innovation, artificial intelligence (AI) in health, and strategic leadership.

Dr. Nodikida holds an MD from the University of Villa Clara in Cuba and a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA). His business acumen is underpinned by an MBA from Rhodes University and an Executive Master’s in Public Health (EMPH) from Peking University in Beijing, China—credentials that ground his work in global health economics, policy, and systems management.

Throughout his career, he has led diverse healthcare institutions and high-impact initiatives. He has served on the Board of Directors of the South African Medical Association (SAMA), where he was responsible for financial oversight, and played a pivotal role in clinical operations at Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital. As a founder of several health-focused enterprises, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to merge sound governance with community-centred care and innovation.

Dr. Nodikida’s expertise spans strategic leadership, health systems financing, AI in healthcare, primary care, international health economics, change management, and operational planning. He is particularly adept at navigating complex healthcare environments and aligning public health goals with forward-thinking business strategies.
